This position is located at 700 W. 39th Avenue, Denver, CO 80216. This is a full-time, in-office, position. Working hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Position Description:
Responsible for the origination, processing, closing, and ongoing support of first and second mortgage loans and HELOC loans. Independently manage first mortgage loans from initial member inquiry and application through processing, closing, funding, and post-closing follow-up. Meet with members to understand their goals, recommend appropriate loan programs, gather and evaluate required financial information, and provide timely updates throughout the process.
Serve as a senior mortgage resource to employees who are developing their mortgage knowledge by providing guidance on products, processes, documentation, and requirements. Provide backup support for mortgage servicing activities as needed, including daily balancing, escrow administration, tax and insurance disbursements, and research and resolution of member inquiries regarding existing mortgage loans. Promote Credit Union products and services, maintain strong quality control, and ensure accurate records and efficient workflow.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer member questions on available mortgage programs and educate members on mortgage requirements, interest rates, and the application and closing process.
- Independently manage first mortgage loans from initial inquiry and application through processing, approval, closing, funding, and post-closing requirements.
- Collect and review financial documents needed to complete a mortgage application and prepare clean, accurate files for approval in accordance with Credit Union policy and/or secondary market requirements.
- Resolve application, documentation, and closing issues and maintain timely communication with applicants and other involved parties throughout the process.
- Prepare closing documents, obtain all requirements of loan closing, and actively manage the mortgage pipeline from application through final funding.
- Track recorded deeds of trust, final title policies, and other required post-closing documentation.
- Serve as a senior mortgage resource to staff, providing guidance and support to employees who are developing their knowledge of mortgage products, processes, documentation, and requirements.
- Provide backup support for mortgage servicing functions as needed, including daily balancing and reconciliation of mortgage activity.
- Assist with escrow administration, including property tax and insurance payments, disbursements, and related account research or maintenance.
- Research and respond to member inquiries regarding existing mortgage loans, including payments, escrow activity, taxes, insurance, and other servicing questions. Escalate complex matters when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local lending requirements, privacy laws, Credit Union policies, and secondary market requirements.
- Track and report all loans to HMDA by March 1st of each year.
- Serve as a Notary.
- Perform other related duties, including special projects as needed or requested.

Qualification Requirements:
- Maintain a professional appearance and work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong working knowledge of the complete first mortgage loan lifecycle, including origination, processing, closing, funding, post-closing, and servicing.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory requirements as they pertain to mortgages.
- Ability to make sound mortgage recommendations based on research, personal expertise, and members’ financial backgrounds.
- Ability to independently research and resolve complex mortgage lending and servicing questions.
- Ability and willingness to serve as a resource to other employees and provide guidance to staff with less mortgage experience.
- Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information professionally and discreetly.
- Ability to collaborate with others involved in the mortgage loan process.
- Thorough knowledge of Credit Union loan policies, data processing systems, and documentation required for mortgage loans.
- Active registration with the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS).
- Proactive problem-solving, strong organization and time management skills, and ability to work independently with a moderate level of supervision.
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible mortgage lending experience, including demonstrated experience independently originating, processing, and closing first mortgage loans from application through funding.
- Experience with mortgage servicing, escrow administration, and post-closing activities strongly preferred. Bank or credit union experience preferred.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
